Byond Games

Listed here are games I'm working in the Game Programming Language known as Dream Maker put out by Dantom. In order to play these game you must have the client Dream Seeker downloaded and installed on your computer for them to work properly. I've provided links to the games that have websites at Byond and from there if you have Dream Seeker install you can join the game. Or download and run the game yourself if provided.

    Dragon Hunter (On Hold)

A brief description of the game:
I was going to avoid doing a popular 2D scroller game, but then one day I came up with an ideal of how to make a scrolling flight game, include an RPG Fantasy like flavor and make it all work well. Thus, "Dragon Hunter" was born.

There has been trouble in the kingdoms to the north of the Great High Mountians. The Great High Mountain is your resting home and were you live with your pet dragons. Raising them from birth they know only you as their care taker and would never dare harm you. But for others, that is a whats on the menu matter! Guilding your dragon from dragon back, across the lands you appear as the sole hero who will save the lands, get the rewards, and just may make off with a princess err two...

  • Ride upon dragon back using breath weapons as well as lances, and other hand held weapons
  • Save a town, become a hero, get the rewards
  • Fight other Dragons, also twisted forms of demons, and more..
  • Increase your armor rating, as well upgrade your weapons
  • Fly back home to change dragons for the more difficult levels
  • Areas of the game

This is to be a quick release(under 6 months) 256 color 2D top to bottom scroller game. The graphics for the most part will all be done in 2D. I'm doing this for the 256pal reason. So they may not be as good as your use to seeing from me, but the game over all should be fun to play. It s an original ideal as far as I know, and should be a new twist to an old style. I have currently started the 2D graphics area for the game and a small example below can be seen below.

Circle Road 2D Tiles Pond 2D Tiles

Tiles linked together to make a circle road and a pond.

    The Dragon Hunter

This is you the Dragon hunter with a Lance weapon in hand.

    Your Kingdom Awaits... (On Hold)

Currently this game is in the planning stage.

A brief description of the game:
A simulation game mostly menu driven where you set up and run your own kingdom set in a futuristic setting.

    LJR's Car Warriors (On Hold)

Currently this game is in the planning stage.

A brief description of the game:
A 2d from above view game. Select your own car type, weapons and armor upgrades. Race to win for the money and the fame. Different race tracks and places to go. Like any other race except with the addition to take your opponents out, but becareful because they have armor and weapons on their vehicles just as you do. This is mostly an arcade like game.

    LJR's RPG (On Hold)

At the moment I'm redoing an old game I wrote in Qbasic about 6 years ago. It is a Dungeons & Dragons type of Role Playing Game set in an originally created world just for the game. All the good stuff that makes a classic RPG will be involved in this project. As of right now it will only be known as LJR's RPG, until I've had time to develope the story line a little more. The old version of this game which you can download below was written all in QBasic. I later made an ANSI version in QB and made more dungeon levels, but never finished and released it. Later, I went on to try and do a remake of the game in Visual Basic and was going along pretty well until I ran into some problems in my pre-rendered 3d Graphics and not having enough 3d objects at the time to finish the scene. The inside of the weapon's shop is the only scene I have finished in 3d and will be using it in this game. That is also where I'm taking a lot of graphical design from is my VB version of the game. Now years later and with me getting more into the VC++ arena with DirectX I plan to re-release the IOD&D game under a new name , with complete 2D/3D graphics, Sound FX, and musical scores (have now started to lean towards using MODs for the background music, or WAV files if on distro'ed out on CD). This page here will be where you can find all the latest updates to this project as of now.

    Areas of the game

Here are the areas I have worked out that will be needed for this game, each one is a screen that will be in the game, and within each screen a set of processes for the game. This is for coding purposes, I will note next to each if I have finsihed this area of coding and also if I have finished the final graphics for this area as well. I have decided that I will be using an Isometric Engine with pre-rendered 3d tiles for the game. Below are actually screen shots of the 3d object you'll see in the game in the 3d Dungeon area.

    LJR's RPG Updates

Below I will list the changes and updates to where I'm at on this game project.

  • 7/9/99 - Since I'm making some progress on the game, I decided to start this update area today. Along with this update I will be adding some snap shots of the game soon. So far I've got my base tile engine going and my background game image to load right. All the graphics so far are ONLY Temporary so don't think what you see in the snap shots is it. After awhile I will slowly start working on the 3D graphics I plan to use in the game. My next area to work on now that I have the tile map and game background working is the Character Generator screen and credits sample screen, along with a Main Menu screen.
  • 7/11/99 - Well I'm having problems in my coding so thought I'd take a break today, and made all 4 of the temp simple character graphics, displayed above. Reminds me a lot of the Ultima games, but they are just stand ins for now.
  • 7/18/99 - Since my last entry in the Updates, I've finished the code for the Intro, saving the background music part for later when I have a finished tune which I've started in MOD format. Now working on the Game's Main Menu, and then onto the Character Generator, I think I'm just going to knock this game out around the edges and work on the game play area last, where most the work will be needed.
  • 7/21/99 - Yes! I had a 3 day set back on coding the Main Game Menu, but finally got everything working, and a lot of the code ended up being my own reasoning of what would work. In the mean time I did a lot of good old games research to make up for the waiting/thinking time.
  • 7/24/99 - Its been an everyday long hard road to get the Character Generator Screen code finished, but its finally done! Now to take some time off from all this coding and read up and see if I'll be able to get this game as an Isometrics 3D game (like that of Diablo/Ultima 6-7/etc.).
  • 7/31/99 - Got a snapshot of the Character Generator in action with the temp graphics loaded here on the page. The colors are all messed up but as for the layout you get somewhat an ideal. Also I've decided on trying to make the game play in Isometrics. So I'm working on writing my own Isometrics Engine for the job. At the moment studying up and making pratice projects to test out the engine. Once I have a working Isometrics I'll work on an Iso-Map Editor for the game. It may be a long time from now till I get the Iso-Engine working. And Isometrics Engine is what they used in the games: CivilizationII, Diablo, X-Com, SimCity3000, and Ultima Online.
  • 8/5/99 - Well I'm loosing my access to the Internet while I'm moving to the US, and getting setup there. This page will be moving to a NEW URL as well. But until then I'll be working offline on this game, doing what I can without a computer on the game design.
  • 10/18/99 - I took down the messed up screenshot, and put up a whole section for screenshots from the actual game.
  • 7/9/00 - Its been a year since I started the VC++ version of the game and I'm still working on it. Progress has been slow, also I've been working on the game on and off and haven't put anything in this area. New stuff since I last posted, the game WILL be isometrics, and I'm still going to take the time to write my own Iso-Engine. I've started posting renderings of the stuff you'll see in the dungeons. As for the coding part I've put most of that off for now till I have more graphics to use in the game. So lots of work is being done in the props and character dept. at the moment. I'll be replacing those animated characters up above with animated 3d characters later in the year. Also I found on my old hard drive and the missing unreleased ANSI version of the QB game. Also I found the QB source code for the ANSI version of the game so I may add some more dungeon levels to get some game play ideals in action. Hate going back to QB programming after doing VC++ so much!
  • 7/22/00 - I've got the 16bit version of my game library ready now. Next I'll be porting all the old code over to the new game lib, and recompiling everything with Direct7 SDK. Also I've started the graphical work on my 2d scroller game listed above which should be released sooner than this game. That makes 3 projects I have going at the moment. The two here, and one Multiplayer RPG which I've started working on called, MAGE Online you can click the link here to see it. (http://www.mage-online.f2s.com)

    Game Name Size Game Description
Information Overide's Dungeons & Dragons Game 43k An old Dungeons and Dragon's type RPG game I made long ago for my demogroup Information Overide. Although the game is completed and has an ending there is only 1 dungeon level to explore and has no graphics besides the intro to the game. You choose from being a Fighter, Mage, Cleric, or Thief and while exploring the Dungeon of LJR's City, must try and gain levels through experience points and save enough gold to win your freedom from the city.
Information Overide's Dungeons & Dragons Game ver. 2.0 49k The same as the old IOD&D but this one has some ANSI graphics, as well as some bugs from the 1st version where fixed. Version 2 had been lost till I found it while looking through some old 3.5 floppies one night.
